John Frusciante’s Fender Silverface Dual Showman (Head)

This Fender Silverface Dual Showman amp was a key part of John’s rig throughout the Californication tour, paired with a Marshall Silver Jubilee and a Marshall Major 200W. However, it was abandoned by the time the band began the By the Way tour in mid-2002, after which John relied exclusively on Marshall amps for his live performances.

In the studio, John also used a Fender Showman amp for recording tracks like “Scar Tissue” and “Otherside.” However, based on photos and John’s statements, the studio amp differed from the one used on tour. The studio Showman featured a black plate and brown grill cloth, while the live amp had a silver grill cloth.
