Chronologically, the Moog Moogerfooger MF-103 12-Stage Phaser appears to be the first Moog pedal John added to his pedalboard, showing up during the By the Way era. By the Stadium Arcadium tours, his setup had expanded to include around eight or nine different Moog pedals.

The MF-103 seems to have directly replaced the MXR Phase 90, which John used during the Californication tour, marking a shift toward more complex and versatile modulation effects in his rig.
