The Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi appears to have directly replaced the “Black Russian” Big Muff Pi that John used during the Californication tour. The U.S. version of the Big Muff Pi was then used throughout the By The Way tour and likely for at least part of the Stadium Arcadium tour.
Around late 2006, John switched to the English Muff’n, which replaced the Big Muff on his pedalboard. However, for the 2022 Unlimited Love tour, it seems John returned to the Big Muff Pi (see John Frusciante’s 2022 Pedalboard).
