John Frusciante’s Martin D-28

John was seen playing this Martin guitar during a VPRO television interview filmed in September 1991. It’s also possible that this guitar was used during the Blood Sugar Sex Magik studio sessions, as a similar-looking guitar can be spotted in John’s bedroom at The Mansion (as seen in the Funky Monks documentary).

However, the footage from Funky Monks is too grainy to confirm anything definitively. It’s more likely that the guitar seen in John’s bedroom is a Martin D-18, the same model John was photographed with around the same time. This distinction is worth noting, as the two models are quite similar and often confused.
