John used a couple of these expression pedals during the Stadium Arcadium tour. For those unfamiliar, expression pedals don’t produce any effect on their own. Instead, they are used to control parameters on other devices. In John’s case, these were likely used to adjust settings on the Moog pedals he had on his pedalboard—around eight in total—including modulation, delay, and volume.
