John Frusciante’s Guyatone Flip VT-X Vintage Tremolo
In 2006 and 2007, John had a Guyatone Flip VT-X Vintage Tremolo on his pedalboard. Interestingly, when not engaged, this pedal acted as a preamp or boost, altering the signal by flipping the amp’s phase—similar to the functionality of his Boss CE-1.
This unique feature meant John could use the pedal not only for its tremolo effect but also to tweak his amp’s tonal characteristics or adjust the phase relationship with other effects. This obviously added a layer of versatility to his setup, allowing him to shape his sound more dynamically during performances.
