There’s very little confirmed information regarding John Frusciante’s choice of acoustic guitar strings. The old version of D’Addario’s website once listed him as using their EJ16 light set, with gauges .012, .016 (unwound), and .024, .032, .042, .053 (wound).
However, John’s guitar tech recalls something different. In the comments section of a video where he discussed how he strung John’s guitars, he mentioned using 10s, which would correspond to the D’Addario EJ10 set. This discrepancy leaves room for debate, and the exact string gauge John preferred might have varied depending on the guitar or context.
