John used this small Fender H.O.T. Combo practice amp in early 1991 for some overdubs on the Blood Sugar Sex Magik album.
For some overdubs I used a Fender H.O.T. practice amp. […] It’s pretty good, you know. I think I got some amazing sounds out of it. Facing it to the ground and that kind of shit. And for some things, I just went direct into the board – which is like my favorite guitar sound in the world.

The Fender H.O.T. (Heavy Output Transistor) Combo was a solid-state practice amp produced in the late 1980s and early 1990s. It featured a 25-watt output through a single 10-inch speaker. The control panel included volume, contour, and reverb knobs. It had multiple voicing options labeled Bright, Full, Crunch, and Lead.
Frusciante used it by positioning it face down for certain overdubs. Specific tracks where the amp was reportedly used include “Suck My Kiss” and the title track “Blood Sugar Sex Magik.”
