This is one of the more unusual pedals from John’s Stadium Arcadium era pedalboard. It’s unique not only because of its distinct sound but also because John never seemed to use it live—or at least, there’s no evidence of it.

It sounds like ring modulationis being used on the guitar solo at the end of ‘Storm in a Teacup”. He’s mentioned in interviews that he processed his guitar with a modular synthesizer in the studio – so it’s likely that on the record. I always thought he included this as a part of his “modular” system live, just in case they played it.
