Famous Gibson LG-2 Guitar Players
The LG series was introduced by Gibson in 1942, initially including the LG-1, LG-2, and LG-3. The LG-1 and LG-3 ceased production shortly after their debut but were reintroduced in 1945. The LG-0 was added in 1958 as the entry-level model. All models are 14 ⅛” wide, primarily made with mahogany back and sides, while the LG-2 and LG-3 feature spruce tops with X-bracing. The LG-0 and LG-1 have mahogany tops with ladder bracing.
The LG series guitars are narrower in the lower bout compared to the L series, with a wider upper bout. The LG-0 and LG-1 were discontinued in 1974, while the LG-2 and LG-3 were replaced by the B-25 and B-25N in 1962. A 12-string version, the LG-12, was produced from 1967 to 1973.
