Tom Morello’s 2000s James Trussart Steelcaster

This is the second of at least two James Trussart guitars Tom Morello owned and played. This guitar he played mostly during the Rage reunion tour and with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band circa 2008.

The guitar was equipped with a Hot Rails pickup in the bridge position and an Alnico pro II in the neck position. It had a perforated hollow metal body, with a maple neck fitted onto it, featuring a rosewood fingerboard. The guitar was finished in a dark green color with a red star in a white circle.

James Trussart Guitars

James Trussart is a guitar maker known for his unique, handcrafted electric guitars and basses. His instruments often feature metal components and rusted finishes, which give them a distinctive look and sound.

James has worked with a variety of notable musicians, and his guitars are highly sought after by collectors and players alike. Aside from Tom Morello, he has made guitars for Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, Jack White, Bob Dylan, Joe Perry, and Charlie Sexton, among others.

James makes a model that’s nearly identical to Tom’s, which you see on the featured image on this page. It has a few differences when compared to Tom’s guitar – it does not have Hot Rails pickup as stock, the wear on the finish is a bit different, and it does not come with a kill switch.
