Mark Speer’s MXR M291 Dyna Comp Mini

The MXR M291 Dyna Comp Mini is Mark’s main compression pedal, and he has it on throughout live gigs. His Output knob is set to almost max and his Sensitivity knob is set very low, and he places the compressor after all other effects like the phaser and the distortion.

These settings mean that only the loudest peaks get tamed while the natural dynamics of his playing stay mostly intact. With the output cranked near max, the pedal acts more as a clean volume boost than a heavy-handed compressor.
