Mark added a Boss AC-3 Acoustic Simulator to his pedalboard around 2025. On Khruangbin’s 2025 album, The Universe Smiles Upon You II, some parts were recorded on acoustic guitar, and rather than bringing an actual acoustic on the road, Mark opted for the AC-3 to replicate that sound live. Acoustic guitars can be a real challenge in a live setting – feedback, mic placement, and general fragility all become problems – so the simulator offers a practical way to get close enough to the recorded tone without the hassle.
