James Hetfield’s ESP Truckster

Brand: ESP
Model: Truckster

This ESP signature model for James Hetfield, named simply “Truckser”, was officially released in 2004 and has been in production ever since. It was based heavily on the ESP Eclipse mode, featuring basically the exact same mahogany body shape, and a mahogany neck paired with a rosewood fingerboard. The guitar was finished in a matte black or silver color with artificial wear added for a road-worn look.

This one here, it came out of rat rods, and you know, people taking old cars, restoring them. The last thing they can’t afford it the paint! The paint has a history with it, the different layers of paint…

The standout feature of this guitar is that it was the first ESP model to include a set of custom-designed EMG pickups, developed in 2013 based on Hetfield’s own feedback. These pickups, named the JH-B and JH-N, are more commonly known as the JH “Het” Set.
