James Hetfield’s ESP LTD Viper “The Grynch”

This ESP LTD model was primarily used by James Hetfield live for songs with dropped tunings, like “Frantic” and “Invisible Kid” from Metallica’s 2003 album St. Anger. The model was produced in a limited run of 260 guitars.

Metallica – Live in Seoul, South Korea (2006)

It features the standard EMG 81/60 pickup set, a mahogany body, and a 27″ baritone maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard. The guitar is equipped with a TonePros System II locking bridge/tail and Sperzel Locking Tuners. Its black body is decorated with green metallic hot rod flames, inspired directly by James’ car, and designed by Kirk Taylor of Custom Design Studios.
