Silvertone Guitars
Silvertone was a brand created by Sears for consumer electronics and musical instruments, active from 1916 to 1972. Initially used for phonographs and records, it expanded into radios and musical instruments, including guitars. The brand was popular for its affordability and wide availability in Sears stores and catalogs.
Silvertone became known for electric and acoustic guitars, basses, and amplifiers. Iconic models include the Silvertone 1448 and 1449 guitars, which featured built-in amplifiers in their cases. The 1484 “Twin Twelve” amplifier gained a following among collectors, with notable users like Jack White and Beck.
