Ovation Guitars
The Ovation Guitar Company specializes in manufacturing steel-string and nylon-string acoustic guitars, often featuring pickups for electric amplification. Established by Charles Kaman in the mid-1960s, Ovation is recognized for its distinctive round-backed guitars and the use of innovative materials, such as the carbon fiber tops of its Adamas models. In 2015, Ovation became a subsidiary of Drum Workshop after being sold by KMCMusicorp, which had previously owned the brand since 1966. The company faced production changes, including the closure of its factory in New Hartford, Connecticut, but later reinstated U.S. production under Drum Workshop. In 2022, German-based GEWA acquired Ovation and relocated production to a smaller facility in New Hartford.
