The Hamer Phantom guitar was launched during Hamer’s expansion in the 1980s, when the company moved to larger facilities in Arlington Heights, Illinois. This model was designed by Glenn Tipton of Judas Priest and features a traditional superstrat double cutaway design. It is equipped with EMG pickups, making it well-suited for heavy metal music. The Phantom GT, a variation of the Phantom, is still used by Tipton in live performances.
