Famous Gretsch White Falcon Guitar Players
The Gretsch White Falcon, introduced in 1954, is an electric hollow-body guitar originally created as a showpiece by Jimmie Webster for the NAMM Convention. Its striking 17-inch white body features gold-sparkle accents and an engraved falcon pickguard. Initially intended as a one-off display, the guitar’s popularity led to its production starting in 1955, marketed as Gretsch’s finest model.
The White Falcon underwent various changes over the years, including updates to its inlays, pickups, and hardware. The first models had DeArmond Dynasonic pickups, which were replaced with Filter’Tron humbuckers in 1958, and the introduction of a Bigsby vibrato tailpiece in 1962. The model evolved to include a twin-cutaway body and a stereo version.
