The Gretsch G6131, known as the Jet Firebird, is an electric guitar introduced shortly after the Duo Jet and Silver Jet. The early models featured two DeArmond single-coil pickups and block fret markers. By the end of the 1950s, the design evolved to include Neo-Classic Thumbnail markers and Gretsch Filtertron humbuckers. In 1962, the guitar transitioned to a double cutaway with gold hardware and Burns tremolos, and by 1968, optional Bigsbys and Super-tron pickups were introduced. The solid body is typically made of mahogany, sometimes with a maple top, and the neck is usually mahogany. The fretboard can be rosewood, ebony, maple, or Richlite. It features a Tune-o-matic bridge and is available in various colors, often including sunburst finishes, goldtop, and wine red.
