Famous Gretsch 6128 Duo Jet Guitar Players

The Gretsch 6128, known as the Duo Jet, is a chambered solid body electric guitar that has been in production since 1953. Inspired by the success of the Gibson Les Paul Goldtop, the Duo Jet features a semi-solid body with routed channels and internal pockets, differentiating it from traditional solid-body guitars. The name “Duo Jet” reflects its two pickups (Duo) and the advanced aircraft of the era (Jet).

Notable for its accessible truss rod, pickup selection switch, and master volume, the Duo Jet is constructed from chambered mahogany and shares a single cutaway design similar to the Gibson Les Paul. It is available in various configurations, including versions with Gretsch’s Filtertron humbucker pickups.
