Famous Gibson EDS-1275 Guitar Players
The Gibson EDS-1275 was introduced in 1963 with a design that closely mirrored the SG model. Initially, it featured a solid mahogany body and necks, with a rosewood fretboard and an ABR-1 bridge for the 6-string section and a Tune-O-Matic bridge for the 12-string section. The guitar was available in colors such as jet black, cherry, sunburst, and white. Production of this version continued until 1968.
In 1974, Gibson revived the EDS-1275, expanding the color options and incorporating some design updates. Production ran until 1998, after which the guitar was produced in alpine white and heritage cherry finishes until 2003. The EDS-1275 saw further revisions with a shift to maple necks from 1998 onward, and continued to be available from the Nashville Custom Shop from 2004 to 2005, and the Memphis Custom Shop beginning in 2006.
