Famous Gibson Advanced Jumbo Guitar Players

The Gibson Advanced Jumbo was an acoustic flattop guitar produced by Gibson from 1936 to 1938. It replaced the earlier Gibson Jumbo and was noted for its larger body and improved tonal qualities. The Advanced Jumbo featured a 16-inch body with rosewood back and sides, an Adirondack spruce top, and a mahogany neck. It had a 25.5-inch scale length and a 1.725-inch nut width. The guitar was retail priced at $80, positioning it slightly below the Martin D-28, which was priced at $100. Production was limited to around 300 units before it was succeeded by the Super Jumbo models.
