Famous Guitarists Who Played the Fender Jaguar
The Fender Jaguar, introduced in 1962, is known for its offset-waist body, distinctive switching system, and 24″ short-scale neck. Originally designed to compete with Gibson’s offerings, it initially struggled in sales compared to the Stratocaster and Telecaster. Although it gained some traction in the surf music scene, it didn’t achieve significant popularity until after it was discontinued in 1975. Vintage Jaguars became highly sought after in the punk, alternative, and shoegazing movements of the 1980s and 1990s. Fender later reintroduced the Jaguar in Japan in the mid-1980s and released a USA-made reissue in 1999. Today, Jaguars are produced globally under the Fender and Squier brands, with original vintage models commanding high prices.
