Famous Fender Coronado Guitar Players

The Fender Coronado, introduced in 1965, is a double-cutaway thin-line hollow-body electric guitar that marked a departure from Fender’s typical designs. It was produced from 1966 to 1972, with a reissue period from 2013 to 2018. The original Coronado I featured a single pickup, the Coronado II added a bridge pickup with tone and volume controls, and the Coronado XII, released in 1967, was a twelve-string model. Additionally, Coronado basses were also made.

Unlike the semi-hollow body of the Gibson ES-335, the Coronado was a fully hollow guitar, similar to the Gibson ES-330 and Epiphone Casino. The original models used a maple body with a beech option on Wildwood variants, a maple neck, and a rosewood fretboard. They were equipped with one or two DeArmond single-coil pickups. The reissue models, however, featured semi-hollow bodies, fixed bridges, and Fidelitron humbuckers.
