Famous Epiphone Casino Guitar Players

The Epiphone Casino, introduced in 1961 and produced by Epiphone, a Gibson subsidiary, is a thin-line hollow-body electric guitar renowned for its association with legendary guitarists like George Harrison, John Lennon, and Paul McCartney. Its true hollow body design makes it lighter and louder when played acoustically, but also more susceptible to feedback than semi-hollow models like the Gibson ES-335. The Casino is equipped with two Gibson P-90 pickups, giving it a warm, distinctive tone, and typically features a laminated maple body, mahogany neck, and rosewood fretboard, with options for a trapeze or Bigsby vibrato tailpiece.

Over the years, the Casino has been manufactured in the USA, Japan, Korea, and China. Early versions featured a spruce top and a 17-degree headstock angle, but current models use laminated maple for the top, sides, and back, with a 14-degree headstock. The guitar’s adjustable Tune-o-Matic bridge allows for fine intonation, and it is available in finishes like Natural, Vintage Sunburst, and Turquoise.
