Famous Dean ML Guitar Players
Dean Zelinsky introduced the ML in 1977 with the goal of enhancing sustain and tone. The design features a large headstock, which increases string angles and length, contributing to greater resonance. Dean has licensed the ML design to other manufacturers, expanding its availability.
The ML model was named after Zelinsky’s late friend, Matthew Lynn, who passed away from cancer. The guitar has been in production since 1977 and features a solid body with a set neck construction. It is commonly built with mahogany or maple for the body, and mahogany for the neck, while the fretboard is typically made of ebony or rosewood.
In terms of hardware, the ML is equipped with a Floyd Rose tremolo or a string-thru bridge and typically comes fitted with two humbucker pickups, such as EMG, Seymour Duncan, or DiMarzio.
