Famous Danelectro Coral Electric Sitar Guitar Players
The Coral Electric Sitar, created by Danelectro and designed by Vincent Bell in the late 1960s, was an innovative attempt to replicate the distinctive sound of the traditional Indian sitar with an electric guitar’s ease of use. This instrument featured six main strings and thirteen sympathetic drone strings, and was known for its teardrop shape, “Sitarmatic” bridge, and unique “Textured Bombay Red” finish. It was marketed as an accessible alternative for guitarists to achieve the sitar sound popularized by artists like Ravi Shankar and George Harrison.
