The PRS Silver Sky is a signature electric guitar model co-designed by PRS Guitars and John Mayer, blending the classic Fender Stratocaster-style body with PRS’s distinctive headstock and birds-in-flight fretboard inlays. The guitar was both celebrated and critiqued for its strong resemblance to the Stratocaster, leading to a significant buzz in the guitar community, with Guitar World dubbing it “the guitar that ‘broke’ the internet.” The Silver Sky quickly became a top seller in the industry.
Production began in 2018 with the core line, which features an alder body, maple neck, and rosewood or maple fretboard. The guitar includes three 635JM single-coil pickups and a two-point steel vibrato bridge. In 2022, PRS introduced the SE version of the Silver Sky, using poplar for the body, making the model more accessible to a broader audience while maintaining Mayer’s design elements.
