The Hagstrom Swede is a single-cutaway solidbody electric guitar introduced in the early 1970s by the Swedish company Hagström, during the later period of its original Älvdalen production. It was clearly inspired by the Gibson Les Paul format, but had its own Hagstrom details, including a deeper cutaway, two humbuckers, block fingerboard inlays, four control knobs, and Hagstrom’s characteristic slim neck design. Original Swedish-made Swedes were produced through the early 1980s, before Hagstrom stopped large-scale guitar production, while modern reissue versions have been made since the brand’s revival in the 2000s. Current Swede models use a 24.75-inch scale length and are aimed at a warm, thick humbucker tone with good sustain, broadly covering classic rock, blues, and heavier styles.
