The Gibson Dove is an Acoustic Guitar used by Mike McCready, Dave Grohl, and Duane Allman.
The Gibson Dove is a flattop steel-string acoustic guitar first introduced in 1962 as Gibson’s second square-shouldered dreadnought, following the Hummingbird. It features a solid spruce top, solid maple back and sides, and a longer scale length of 25.5 inches, making it louder and brighter compared to the Hummingbird. The Dove is distinguished by its mother-of-pearl double parallelogram inlays, dove-themed decorations, and originally had a metal tune-o-matic bridge, which was later criticized for its impact on tone. Over time, Gibson improved the Dove’s quality, with models like the Dove Performer, Dove Quilt, and Elvis Presley Dove.
