The Danelectro Longhorn Six-String Bass, also known as the Model 4623, is a six-string electric bass introduced in the late 1950s as part of Danelectro’s Longhorn line. It used the company’s distinctive double-cutaway “Longhorn” body shape, Masonite-and-pine construction, and lipstick-style pickups. Tuned lower than a standard guitar, it occupied a similar role to later six-string bass and baritone instruments, offering bass-range notes with a guitar-like playing layout.
