Danelectro, founded in 1947 by Nathan Daniel in Red Bank, New Jersey, is known for its innovative and affordable musical instruments, particularly electric guitars, basses, and amplifiers. Initially producing amplifiers for Sears and Montgomery Ward, the brand later gained recognition for its hollow-body guitars made of Masonite and poplar, featuring unique “lipstick-tube” pickups. In 1966, the company was sold to MCA, but by 1969, it had closed due to unsuccessful marketing strategies. Revived in the late 1990s by the Evets Corporation, Danelectro continues to produce reissues and new models, including effects pedals and resonator guitars.
