Sometime in early 1986, Gary Moore acquired a few Paul Reed Smith guitars, most likely all Custom 24 models from the early production. Among them was this red one, which appears in various studio photos and footage from the era, as well as during the filming of the ‘Wild Frontier’ music video.
Originally, the guitar was equipped with standard twin humbuckers, but based on the photo below, it appears that the bridge pickup was replaced with an EMG 81, which was Gary’s go-to live pickup. Aside from this modification, not much else is known about the instrument.
