Gary Moore’s 1986 Jackson Soloist HSS

Gary Moore utilized this instrument primarily between 1987 and 1989. He adopted it to address specific limitations in his main Charvel, which lacked a front pickup and possessed only 22 frets. Moore likely wanted single guitar capable of covering a broader range of material during this era.

Specs

The instrument is a 1986 model featuring a white finish and a 24-fret neck. It is equipped with three pickups, although the rear pickup was eventually replaced with an EMG. The hardware includes an aftermarket Floyd Rose tremolo system.

Usage

This Jackson Soloist appears in the music video for “The Loner.” While it is speculated that the guitar was also used on the Wild Frontier studio sessions, most souces indicate that a red Charvel was used for the actual studio recording of “The Loner.”
