Billie Joe Armstrong’s Peavey Musician 400 Series

Billie Joe Armstrong started using the Peavey Musician 400 Series amp in the late 1980s, during the years before Green Day recorded their first album. This was a solid-state amplifier that was never particularly high-end, but it was affordable and loud enough for small club gigs. At that time, Billie’s main guitar was his Fernandes Stratocaster copy “Blue.”

This amp was most famously seen on the back cover of 39/Smooth in 1990. However, the amp was not used on the studio sessions, since Billie confirmed he used Gallien Krueger 250RL on that album.

The back cover of 39/Smooth shows Billie with a Peavey Musician 400 Series amp in the top left corner.
