Billie Joe Armstrong’s Hiwatt Custom 100

Sometime during the Nimrod sessions in 1997, Billie Joe used a Hiwatt Custom 100. It wasn’t part of his regular setup before or after, but it was apparently there in the studio when they wanted something different from the Marshalls. A Hiwatt is loud and clean, and that probably made it useful for layering guitar tracks without turning everything into a distorted mess.

Unfortunately, there’s no clear record of which songs it ended up on. After Nimrod, the Hiwatt was gone, and it never made the live rig and was only a brief detour.
